Job Description:


Farmingdale State College Department of Criminal Justice invites applications for the position of Director of the Center for Criminal Justice Studies. This center houses two baccalaureate programs in Criminal Justice: Police, Courts & Corrections, and Law Enforcement Technology, each emphasizing applications in the field related to their respective titles; there is also an Associate of Science program in Criminal Justice: Law Enforcement that continues to attract students seeking a degree at this level.


Reporting to the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, the Director will be expected to promote the mission of the Center through program development, research, grant writing, community outreach, collaboration with criminal justice agencies, the sponsoring of conferences /events supporting the profession, and limited teaching responsibilities in their area of expertise. The Director will serve as the department chair for the associated academic programs, which includes such responsibilities as the creation of course schedules and faculty teaching assignments, faculty and staff evaluation, assessment of student learning, budget development, certification of students' graduation and oversight of the Departmental Advisory Committee. Other support personnel, including an Assistant Director, report directly to the Center Director. The duties and responsibilities for these positions are directly aligned with the work of the Center and are in support of the academic degree programs and the students they serve.

Requirements:


MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • A doctorate in Criminal Justice or a related social science field.

  • A strong record of teaching, scholarship, and administrative experience at the level of department chair or higher.

  • The ability to establish relationships with criminal justice agencies at multiple levels.



Additional Information:


This is a 12-month UUP faculty position.



  • For the first 10 working days, beginning Friday, November 4, 2022 and ending Thursday, November 17, 2022, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.
