Job Description:

The Center for Criminal Justice Studies invites applications for a Lecturer position with a start date of Fall of 2023. Lecturer faculty members at Farmingdale State College have two workload components: teaching and service. We are seeking a candidate who has a strong background in the field of criminal justice or criminology, with teaching experience in the field of criminal justice at the college level and experience working in criminal justice labs. A Master's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a related social science field from a regionally accredited institution must be completed by the time of the appointment. This is not a tenure-track position.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate effective teaching at the undergraduate level, with a teaching load of 10 credit hours per semester. Laboratory responsibilities will include working with the faculty in planning laboratory schedules, setting up laboratory equipment and materials, overseeing ongoing laboratory projects, and communicating with vendors to prepare requisitions and to procure orders.

Requirements:
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's Degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution must be completed by the time of the appointment.


• Applicant should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Teaching experience at the collegiate level.


• Experience in instructional laboratory management of criminal justice.


• Knowledge of and experience with technology used in criminalistics labs, such as microscopy and analytical instrumentation.

This is a 10-month UUP faculty position.

• For the first 10 working days, beginning Thursday, November 3, 2022 and ending Wednesday, November 16, 2022, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.
